Emily received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. After graduation, Emily clerked on the Minnesota Court of Appeals. There, she worked on a wide variety of cases, including areas of law such as criminal, family, employment, unemployment, contract, property, and personal injury. After concluding her clerkship with the court of appeals, she clerked on the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. She was involved in criminal and civil trials; worked with motions in limine; and handled employment, mortgage, civil rights, and personal injury cases. Upon concluding her clerkships, Emily worked for a small employment law firm.

During law school, Emily was the Lead Managing Editor of the ABA Journal of Labor and Employment Law and was published in that journal. She worked at Nichols Kaster, PLLP–an employment and consumer protection law firm–during her second and third years. Prior to law school, Emily graduated in Linguistics from Brigham Young University and worked as an editor. Emily is admitted to practice in Utah and in both state and federal courts of Minnesota.

In her free time, Emily enjoys making green smoothies and eating copious amounts of chocolate, cooking, and exploring new places.
