John is an accomplished attorney with 14 years of success in the legal industry, specializing in intellectual property law and specifically in patent law. He is a registered patent practitioner with extensive expereince with computer hardward and software inventions such as data encryption and tokenization, bitcoin, blockchain, Internet-of-Things, intrusion detection and data privacy, telecommunications, AI (various types of machine learning and neural networks), cloud computing, remote backup systems, three dimensional gaming, machine translation, content management, database management, processor architectures, and document coding – just to name a few. John possesses extensive experience in counseling clients with respect to subject matter eligibility, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications in order to comply with the rigorous and ever-changing standards of 35 U.S.C. 101.

John also posseses a technical degree in mechanical engineering with specific experience in protecting a wide array of mechanical inventions including but not limited to LED lighting and control systems, automotive, medical devices including orthopedic devices and implants, dental products, sportin goods, aquaculture, farm equipment, hydraulics, oil and gas, three dimensional filters, algae-based biofuel processing systems, and assorted optic and laser technologies.

John also prepares comprehensive and detailed patent freedom-to-operate and non-infringement opinions, and has experience with re-examination, appeals, and accelerated patent examination processes. John is also experience in drafting and negotiating licenses for wide array of technologies.

John has experience in patent litigation, having second chair experience in trial and pretrial litigation for patent and trademark enforcement, including researching and drafting dispositive motions. John also conducts detailed infringement analyses for litigation support.

John received his Bachelor of Science: Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tulsa, College of Engineering. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa, College of Law in 2004. John is a member of Delta Theta Phi. John is licensed to practice law in Oklahoma and is a United States Patent Trademark Office (USPTO) licensed attorney. He has been awarded “Super Lawyers 40 Under 40 Rising Stars” from 2012-2018.
